There were musical ideas in my head that weren't making it to my hands, so I decided to find someone to study with to hopefully unlock my potential. After two months of Skype lessons with Michael, I am already visualizing the neck differently, finding newfound economy in my playing, and hearing time differently. Progress is addictive and I'm looking forward to what the next few months will hold. If you are looking for an instructor I highly recommend Michael.

I feel since I’ve been studying with Mike, a good majority of my playing ability has gone up. I’ve learned a lot of key components that help me become a better bassist and musician. Mike is really good as a teacher because he has patience and really cares that the student knows everything they need to!

It’s hard to believe that I’ve only been taking lessons from Mike for a few months because I’ve already noticed a monumental change in my dexterity, technique, and timing. He truly has done a fantastic job preparing me for the road that lies ahead at Berklee. I feel like his ability to combine common teachings (such as scales and theory) with the creative elements of music makes him an amazing teacher for anyone willing to learn. I'm extremely grateful to have stumbled across Mike three months ago. Over the past ten lessons together, he has helped me develop my technique, musical vocabulary, practice routine, and reading skills. I feel like I've made more progress in the past three months than I had during the whole six months I'd spent trying to mostly self-learn before. I had been trying to learn to play jazz with a more authentic feel as well as improve my reading and technique. I am glad I found Mike as he helped me with all of this and more! Without his help I would have been stuck in a rut not knowing what I needed to achieve my goals. He helped me immensely with understanding how to improve my technique. He had me learn songs by ear which helped me listen better and understand the role of the bass in a song. I am very lucky and grateful to have Mike as a teacher and look forward to many lessons in the future.
